Claverton Pumping Station is a truly unique part of British transport history. Not only one of the only surviving canal pumping stations, but already unique during the height of the canal era in its use of water rather than steam to drive a massive pumping engine.

Claverton Pumping Station has been managed and maintained by an active community of enthusiastic volunteers. This year it was decided that the best way to ensure that our volunteers had the resources they needed to maintain this fantastic machine was to form a charity.

We are delighted to announce that as of the 16th of August the Claverton Pumping Station Trust CIO is a registered charity with Charity Number 1200080. We are now in the process of transferring operation of the pumping station from our community group to the new charity. We will have more updates in the near future.
